Shingle roofing is the backbone of residential roofing in Canute. Whether you're choosing architectural shingles for their dimensional look or three-tab shingles for budget-friendly coverage, the installation process is what determines how long they last. Canute Roofing & Maintenance follows manufacturer nailing specs and overlap requirements on every job.
Architectural shingles are heavier and more wind-resistant than three-tab because of their laminated, multi-layer construction. The fiberglass mat provides the structural base, asphalt makes it waterproof, and the granulated ceramic surface protects against UV radiation and provides fire resistance. We install them over synthetic underlayment with ice-and-water shield at valleys and eaves.
Our Shingle Roofing Process
Shingle Selection
We inspect your existing roof deck and sheathing, measure the area, and help you choose between architectural and three-tab asphalt shingles. Color samples brought to your Canute home.
Old Roof Removal
Old roof stripped to bare deck. We inspect the plywood or OSB sheathing for structural integrity, replace any compromised boards, and prep a clean, solid substrate for the new underlayment and shingles.
Underlayment & Flashing
Ice-and-water shield bonded at valleys and eave lines. Synthetic underlayment over the full deck. New aluminum drip edge at every eave and rake. All flashing โ chimney, pipe, vent, wall โ sealed and secured before a single shingle goes down.
Nailing & Overlap
Starter strips along the eave, then field courses of architectural shingles with manufacturer-specified offset and overlap. Each shingle nailed in the designated zone with 4-6 fasteners. Ridge cap shingles hand-nailed at every hip and ridge for a finished, watertight top.

Why Choose Canute Roofing & Maintenance for Shingle Roofing?
Nailed to Manufacturer Spec
Every shingle nailed in the designated nailing zone with the correct number of fasteners. This is what keeps the manufacturer warranty valid and the shingles on your roof in high wind.
Manufacturer-Certified Installers
GAF Master Elite, Owens Corning Preferred, CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster. Our certifications mean your manufacturer warranty is fully valid from day one.
Full Tear-Off Standard
We strip to the deck on every shingle job. No overlay shortcuts. Your underlayment, ice-and-water shield, and flashing are installed on a clean, inspected roof deck.
Ice-and-Water Shield Standard
Every shingle roof includes ice-and-water shield at valleys, eaves, and around penetrations. This self-adhering membrane is the last line of defense against water intrusion if a shingle fails.
